Shredding for the wedding: Yes or no?

Let’s talk about the wedding industrial complex. Or since this is a fitness blog, let’s talk about the pressure women and men face to get in shape before they say, “I do.”

If you’re married, did you do anything special to slim down for your wedding? 

Matt and I are getting married in one month. (We got a marriage license last week!) For the last few months, anytime I didn’t devour a bread basket, I was likely to hear a comment related to bridal weight-loss. You know, “Are you not eating that because of your dress?” Or something like, “I noticed your awesome willpower. Your wedding is soon!” I’m not a shy person. And when it comes to food and fitness, I overshare (thanks for reading my blog, ya know?). So for the most part, I don’t mind the feedback or comments; I’m sure I provoke them to a degree. They’re also coming from well-meaning friends.

Things I am loving #1

My favorite post on the blogs of others is the occasional time they list of favorite things. I love finding new books, classes or a even just a cool sweater from someone’s recommendation. But I’ve been a taker and not a giver. So today that will change. I thought I’d share a few things I’m digging recently.

I was overdue for a pair of sneakers. I haven’t purchased a pair of non-running sneakers in, I don’t know, 5 years? And I am obsessed with these. I barely take them off. I wear them for non-running workouts and just, in general, all of the time.

Martha’s Vineyard and my brief fitness hiatus

There is some real absentee blogger shit happening here.

Sorry guys. I had a crazy week. But I wanted to pop in to give a little update.

First, I lost my sneakers and with them my custom orthotics. I took an early morning class at the new Barry’s Bootcamp location (27th and Park). The class is hard but the real barbaric stuff happens in the locker room. After class, I raced to the locker room to shower.  I kicked off my shoes and put them under the sinks to quickly get in line for the showers (because there is always a line, even if it’s a brand new studio with 6 showers).

All the workouts: 8/22-28

This week was a lot of fun, but now I’m pretty tired and my constitution is 90% sugar. I used up my 10 classes at ClassPass about a week before my CP cycle ended. ClassPass users, have you been going through your allotted amount ahead of schedule? Or is 10 classes per month a good amount for you?
