In earlyish October, I wrote about a bunch of fitness challenges happening at NYC studios. I knew I wanted to try one one, and I decided to go with Refine Method’s Take 2. Basically I took two Refine classes a week and received a discounted rate on classes.
Coming back to the real world after Thanksgiving is tough. I had a busy weekend with visits to my parents’ house in Long Island, Matt’s uncle’s home in NJ, my college bestie’s first grown up home (with husband and brand new baby included!) in Dobbs Ferry, and more and more and more.
I made a real rookie mistake of going to SoHo on Black Friday (I was headed to a yoga class in Nolita). I forgot that throngs of people actually shop in stores and not on exclusively on the internet. (Can someone explain to me why?)
How is everyone doing? If you’re not feeling so hot, check out this post from earlier in the week. I’m sending good feelings and virtual hugs your way.
Now, on the workout front: Usually I like to alternate types of exercises (example: not run 3 days in a row!) but it didn’t work out that way because I had to travel mid-week. So I front-loaded the week with Refine Method to make sure I met my 2x week commitment. I enjoyed it, actually. #AllTheRefineMethod
I also ran 13 miles this weekend, which is not a lot for me in general, but big number for me right now, and I’m pretty excited about it.
I wrote this last week, before the election. Put more finely, before the election broke my heart and left me shocked and scared.
This post seems more trite than usual now. But I am not sure it makes sense to go completely dark because of the election’s outcome when admittedly this blog has nothing to do with politics. The upbeat tone of this post doesn’t match my mood today. But maybe it will encourage positive feelings soon. I know I can’t and won’t feel sad forever.
Hi everyone! As expected last weekend’s NYC marathon has given me running fever.
When I got home from spectating my pal Camilla on Sunday, I started immediately googling local races to sign up for. Then Matt reminded me I was ALREADY running in two races in the next two weeks already (The Race to Deliver in Central Park and a Turkey Trot with my family in Long Island on Thanksgiving). Perhaps I should focus more on training and less on purchasing entry to more races?
If any of you ran the marathon I would LOVE to hear your story! Let me know in the comments please.
