Matt and I went to Norway and Sweden for 10 days of hiking and exploring. Our AirBnB in Bergen, Norway was around the corner from Barry’s Bootcamp. It’s just called “Barry’s” in Norway. I wonder if the word “bootcamp” doesn’t translate.
After a week of challenging hikes, Barry’s wasn’t exactly what we needed, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to take a New York favorite while abroad. Also, fun fact: Despite the fact that EVERYTHING is more expensive in Norway (compared to the US), Barry’s is cheaper!
We visited on a weekend, and Barry’s in Norway follows the same calendar as in the US, so it was a Full Body workout (the schedule varies by day of the week). My short vacation in Norway doesn’t make me an expert on it’s culture, but it’s hard to escape the view that Norwegians are fit. Here read this study about the culture of fitness in Scandinavia. Even in the US the Barry’s regular is a self-selecting crowd and the average participant is in pretty solid shape. I steeled myself for a tough workout and that’s what we got.
Hi there! It’s been a fabulous whirlwind since I last posted. Last Saturday, Matt and I got married! I can’t thank our friends and our family enough for making it the most magical weekend of my life. It was better than I even allowed myself to imagine.
I could talk about the wedding weekend forever. But before we get to that, let’s talk about the week of workouts leading up to the wedding:
Monday: 30-minute training session. I’ve been seeing Leo Pinto of Leo Results Fitness. I can’t recommend him enough! Full post on this coming soon.
Hi guys! What a week. In just two days I head to the Berkshires for our wedding. I’ve been doing some extra weight training leading up to the big day. Here’s what went down:
Monday: 30-minute training session Tuesday: nothing Wednesday: 30-minute training session + 2 mile easy run Thursday: Barry’s Bootcamp abs day at Chelsea. Friday: 30-minute training session Saturday: Refine Method Sunday: Barry’s Bootcamp Upper East Side (Full Body!)
Before Matt and I tie the knot, I thought it would be fun to introduce you to the soon-to-be Mr. Cuckoolemon. I prepared a short interview with Matt. Read on.
I took my first Barry’s Bootcamp class over three years ago. Back then, there was no advance spot assignment, and class started with a mad dash toward the treadmills. Other than that, not much has changed. It’s still a brutally sweaty, efficient and diverse workout.
In the last six months or so, I’ve become a true Barry’s addict. Nary a week passes where I don’t go to at least two classes. I’ve celebrated small Barry’s achievements (first covering 2 miles in a class and now covering at least 2.5 miles) and I have really grown to love stepping into their studios.
If you’re a Barry’s addict like me, the following 13 things may ring true. Let me know in the comments if you have any to add or to second.
