A weird experience at Pure Yoga

In classic Haber-fitness-bargain-hunting fashion, I bought a 5-pack of classes for Pure Yoga on Gilt City.

I jumped at the purchase because I had memories of Pure’s Figure 4 Barre classes being incredibly challenging, and their locker room looking super posh.

A little update and some great fitness deals

Long time no post! I was traveling for work last week and got lost in the sea of jet lag. Despite all my noble thoughts on fitness while traveling, I’ve been getting rundown and sick on work trips and I end up just trying to recover, and not breaking a sweat at all (unless you count the cold sweat from food poisoning last week, but that’s enough on that).

Since I’ve been back, I made a visit to my old love, yoga. Before there was barre and spinning there was yoga, which now seems old-timey and simple. I took a visit back to Laughing Lotus this week and it was pretty amazing. It’s a nice looking studio but there are no fancy locker rooms or you know central heat or air. It’s still a good time for a hippy. They have a great new student deal, $39 for an unlimited month of yoga.

Taking a Barre Class in Panama

Last week I wrote a post about keeping in shape while traveling, and this week I took my own advice.

My friend Kelly moved to Panama City, Panama for work. Over Columbus Day Weekend I popped down to the narrow waistband of the Americas to pay her a visit, butcher the beautiful Spanish language and do some exploring.

Kelly and a few of her coworkers (all expats) bought the equivalent of a Groupon deal to a Panamanian boutique fitness operation called The Daily Barre. They had plans to take the 6:15am class and I decided to join. At 6:05am we left Kelly’s apartment and hopped in a cab and headed to a shopping center called Punta Pacifica.
