Bibs for Brooklyn Half Marathon sold out in 45 minutes. It’s the largest half marathon in the country with over 27,000 participants. In the weeks leading up to there race I was excited to be a part of the party, but I was hurting running wise. If you read any of my weekly recaps, you’ll see my long runs were either terrible or nonexistent. So I started to lower my expectations. Instead of putting pressure on myself to meet a goal, I was just happy not to have a sprained ankle and to get to run a race with a huge running community.
Ah gosh guys. The Brooklyn Half is moments away and I haven’t had a good long run since the Cherry Blossom 10-miler the first week in April. My hips hurt. My legs don’t have any juice. It’s the pits. If I had to boil down the cause of my running malaise, I think I slacked at : nutrition, stretching, cross training and doing my PT exercises. Should I skip the race?
The Brooklyn Half is a few weeks away and my long runs are getting long (to me). I have to recalibrate how long I can work out after a long run. (It’s Tuesday and I’m still feeling Saturday’s run.) All in all, it was a lovely and busy week. Here’s what went down:
Monday: Uplift Express. I’ve taken 3 classes at Uplift and this place always exceeds expectations. More on this studio here!
