Free NYC workouts all summer: Sweat Sessions

Having a fitness habit in NYC can be pricey. So when I hear about free opportunities to experience high-end studios, I like to share the wealth. (Exhibit A, Exhibit B).

It’s almost summer time, and who doesn’t want to get outside, get sweaty and pay $0 for a fitness class?

Every Tuesday night from May through August some of the top fitness studios are offering free classes outside in the Meatpacking District through the Sweat Sessions series.

All the workouts: Bachelorette weekend edition

Hi friends. I am really excited about the response to last week’s post about wedding diets. It was very interesting to hear from different people on the blog and through social media on how wedding prep triggered (or didn’t!) a will to diet/workout. With about 30 days to go until my own wedding, it’s something that’s been on my mind.

After last week’s taste of summer, I’m not thrilled about the gloomy, grey weather in this week’s forecast. Anyone else feeling me on this?

Lucky for me, last weekend had glorious sunny weather.  I was in Great Barrington (again) but this time with a few lovely ladies for my bachelorette party.

Shredding for the wedding: Yes or no?

Let’s talk about the wedding industrial complex. Or since this is a fitness blog, let’s talk about the pressure women and men face to get in shape before they say, “I do.”

If you’re married, did you do anything special to slim down for your wedding? 

Matt and I are getting married in one month. (We got a marriage license last week!) For the last few months, anytime I didn’t devour a bread basket, I was likely to hear a comment related to bridal weight-loss. You know, “Are you not eating that because of your dress?” Or something like, “I noticed your awesome willpower. Your wedding is soon!” I’m not a shy person. And when it comes to food and fitness, I overshare (thanks for reading my blog, ya know?). So for the most part, I don’t mind the feedback or comments; I’m sure I provoke them to a degree. They’re also coming from well-meaning friends.

All the workouts: 5/8- 5/14

This Sunday, I marked another year around the sun and Cuckoolemon celebrated its third birthday. Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes on social media and IRL. If you have a child under six and s/he has not yet recorded a video singing “happy birthday,” I will still be accepting submissions until the end of the week. Those videos are my absolute favorite and I watch each of them minimum 10x with a huge smile on my face.
