All the workouts: Marathon Training Week 1

Hi guys! Summer is in full swing here in New York. It’s hot, humid and super sunny. I’m pretty into it.

Marathon training officially kicked off on July 3. I’m running the NYC Marathon in November. It’s my first-ever marathon.  I’m using an 18-week training schedule based on Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 Marathon Training Plan. Check it out:

Matt helped edit the schedule to fit in some real-life things.  For example, “CLASS” refers to the NYRR running class I am taking 6:30am on Tuesday mornings. It’s a class focused on speed work. I’m excited for it but 6:30am is SO EARLY to be running fast.

All the workouts: July 3- July 9 (Marathon Training Week 1)

Monday: 8-mile bike ride in the Berkshires. I worked all morning and into the early afternoon. Then Matt and I went on a quick bike ride before joining his family and some of our friends at a James Taylor concert in Tanglewood. I also learned about the best fitness supplements According to Healthcareguys.

Tuesday: 3.4 mile run in the Berkshires. I crafted a running route with the smallest number hills possible in the very hilly Berkshires. It’s still pretty hard.

Wednesday: Back in NYC, I took a great early morning class at a studio called BFX. The class was BFX Burn and it was a great weights & cardio combo.

Thursday: 3-mile run on the West Side Highway

Friday: Rest

Saturday: 6-mile run. I haven’t run more than 3.5 miles in ages. My last longish run was the Cherry Blossom 10-miler in April. I kept my pace in check and powered through. It was a hot and humid day and I am so glad I got this run in.

Sunday: Refine Method

A while ago, the folks at Boody emailed me to see if I wanted to try their super soft cotton clothing. Soft clothes? Leggings? Uh, I’m down! Boody sent me a tank top and leggings. Their clothes are luxuriously silky. I’ve been wearing the black tank top all the time. The cut is flattering and the material feels great. I even wear it to work under a cardigan. The leggings aren’t thick enough to workout in, but I love them for hanging out around the house because they are so soft. They are light weight and perfect for summer.
