Week in Review: February 7

Oh hello!

Last week I shared a record of every time I worked out. I got more views on that post than most posts – by a heap – so I think it’s something you (or someone!) is interested in reading.

Me too.

I love day-in-the-life posts, and other deep dives into the habits of others when it comes to fitness. I’d love to learn yours! Let me know in the comments how this compares to what you’re doing!

February 1-7: Every Workout

Sunday: NYSC with my sister. Lots of arms and abs and some of the exercises I’m meant to do to rehab my ankle.

Monday: Rest Day

Tuesday: Reformer Pilates at Yogaworks. I have a lot of weird feelings about this. Sometimes I am so sore after, other times it’s like it didn’t happen.

Wednesday: NYSC: Stairmaster, arms, planks (I started the 30-day plank challenge, but I started mid-way, since I can already hold a plank for over a minute.)

Selfie and sleeps early am at the gym

Thursday: Early am Flywheel. My first time on the bike since Miami (I was trying to rest my ankle. Spinning is meant to be “low impact” but I always feel it in my ankle/calf. Resting for a week or so didn’t help, FYI, though maybe the stairmaster action sabotaged me.) I tied for second on the ladies side of Torqboard. You know what does make my ankle feel better? BEING A WINNER.

Friday: Rest Day (had to travel for work), went to doctor.

Saturday: I was meant to go to Flywheel for a friend’s birthday, but am laying off ankle as per the doctor

I don’t think this is a normal week. The injury really slowed me down, as I guess it’s supposed to. Lamesauce. What did you do this week?

P.S. This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while: What I Imagine My Boyfriend’s Ex-Girlfriends Are Doing Right Now (from The New Yorker)

Always fun to see what other folks’ routines are. Here was my week — which was also not normal b/c I was trying to stave off an injury:
    2/1: Ran 11 hilly miles
    2/2: 40 minutes legs & abs
    2/3: 20 minutes exercise bike
    2/4: Ran 3.25 miles
    2/5: 25 minutes legs & abs
    2/6: 25 minutes elliptical
2/7: 30 minutes upper and abs

Plus stretched a couple times each day for 10-15 minutes, and walked at least 30 minutes most days.

I’m going to experiment with a 10 day-ish long run cycle to see if that treats me better than running long every 7 days.

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. A 10 day cycle meaning a long run every 10 instead of every 7 days? Could be genius! Let me know how it goes! Are you training for anything?

Yep, exactly, run long every 10 days, instead of every 7. I’ve seen it recommended for Masters (i.e., old) runners and people prone to injury. And since I fit both categories …

I’m training for the Reston 10 Miler. Hoping to knock at least a couple minutes of last year’s Cherry Blossom time, but it’s a much hillier course. So we’ll see.

I sure hope your ankle heals soon!
