Happy Thanksgiving!!

As is new tradition, my family runs a 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. The race we’ve participated in the last two years is in the town of Oyster Bay and this year they didn’t host it. My mom found a new 5K for us to run in Glen Head, Long Island. The race is called the North Shore Turkey Trot and we didn’t know what to expect.

Here’s what went down.
First, 90% of the people running this race were wearing some sort of sartorial intimidation. I saw more NYC marathon shirts, and college track and field outfits in this small local race than I do at any given New York Road Runners race.

Second, this 5K was LAUGHABLY hilly. It was 3 miles of straight up and down. Many of the roads were called things like “Hill Lane” and “Snake Road.”

I ran with my mom, so she set the pace and we ran 10:30s, which was fast enough for my mom to win her age group, so that’s pretty cool.

I always leave the race in such a good mood which is the way I like to start Thanksgiving.
Past Turkey Trot recaps:
How was your Thanksgiving?
I did the Prospect Park Track Club’s Turkey Trot in Prospect Park. It was such a fun event because so many of my friends and teammates were there.
