Every time I worked out last week (5/9-5/15)

Ah gosh guys. The Brooklyn Half is moments away and I haven’t had a good long run since the Cherry Blossom 10-miler the first week in April. My hips hurt. My legs don’t have any juice. It’s the pits.  If I had to boil down the cause of my running malaise, I think I slacked at : nutrition, stretching, cross training and doing my PT exercises. Should I skip the race?

Even though I can identify and acknowledge the things I have to do better, I’m traveling for work this week so my focus on diet/exercise is non-existent.

But here’s what happened last week.

Monday: 7ish mile run, full of struggles and hip flexor pain

Tuesday: PT at Finish Line, mostly stretching and soft tissue work. I used the NormaTec shorts:


Wednesday: Physique 57 Signature class. For me, P57 is a great balance to running

Thursday: 4 mile run in Riverside Park. Loved it.  The first/only run to feel good in a long time.

Friday: Mat 57 at Physique 57.

Saturday: (my birthday) I went on a pretty brutal 7 mile run with Matt. My body never got into it. Then we walked across the GW bridge and walked along a trail near the Hudson on the Jersey side. I think we covered ~30 miles. I’ve never done that before, have you? It offers very cool vantage points of the city. Like this view of the Little Red Lighthouse from above.

Sunday: I did about 3 seconds of my PT stretches.

    You walked 30 miles? Or did you walk across then bike ride!

    ALSO don’t do the half if you risk injury!! I’m not doing it because a severe cuboid bruise in my foot but just be smart!

      We took the subway to 179. Walked across. Then walked by the water on a trail. Walked back across. Got on the subway at 181 then got off at 116 and walked home from there. We live in the 60s. So it was 20m + walk then and a 7 mile run.

      Ouch on your foot. I’m hoping I’ll be ok for the half but we’ll see

        the subway decisions were sort of impulsive. we were like, HEY why arent we walking?
