Riding around Storm King

This weekend I put my training to use. For the first time I rode a bike for the sake of riding a bike, not to practice riding a bike.

Matt and I went to Storm King Art Center in the Hudson Valley.

Storm King is a sculpture garden integrated in a hilly green forest. It’s a really pretty place to go and a great alternative (or supplement) to the traditional “let’s appreciate fall by going apple picking” idea.

For $10 an hour you can rent bikes. You cannot bring your own, though I saw one man arrived by bike and no one stopped him from cruising through the property. The have a selection of 3-gear cruisers which are in high demand and good condition.

After a short wait, we received bikes and set off. I biked through people, on paths and off paths, on the grass, down hills and on rocky terrain. It was awesome.

See for yourself! (How’s my driving?)
